Virtual Reality in Mining

GMD personnel went on a tour of Exeter University’s Immersive Business Suite and investigated the use of Virtual Reality in mine design. Only those not afraid to look a bit daft need apply! 

VR is a great tool for teaching basic mining skills before heading underground, as well as helping to see the details in a mine design up close. Just think what it will be like when additional datasets such as drillholes, stress modelling results, large-scale fault models, and other features are shown as well.
